Rose Diseases
...a basic list.

Rose diseases are always something to take seriously and only loving care will keep them at bay. We all know that red roses are considered to be the symbol of love. It's been a moment that many have shared and was created centuries ago to show affection and passion towards someone or some thing. And we all know that sometimes the path of love takes some rough roads...and so the rose itself will suffer if you don't cultivate well.

It's safe to say the demand for roses today is still flourishing. It's just one of the many reasons why rose gardening has transcended through the years without missing a beat.

It's important to understand, however, that if you want to constantly provide others with fresh and desirable roses, you have to maintain your garden at all times during the course of a year. If you don't, you could end up watching them dwindle away as they begin to feel the stress and have to deal with all the fungus and other issues that surface.

Today we want to give you a glimpse of what will develop if your rose gardening practices aren't up to par. Obviously you will be dealing with mother nature, but the following issues can play a major role on your entire rose garden:

Red Roses on an Arch

Fungus-

While there are several different reasons for fungus appearing, if you have red spiders around the garden they are usually the main culprits. During the summer months you usually see fungus appear. This needs to be taken care of accordingly or else it will eventually kill your roses.

Rose Rust-

Amazingly, your rose actually does look like it has rust on the underside of the leaves. However, it's an orange powder and will stunt the growth of your roses and kill them like the fungus.

Black Spots-

Another issue you may have to deal with are those black spots you occasionally seen on roses. It's very important to eliminate these ASAP so they do not take hole of your entire rose garden and destroy all of them. They will be on either the stems or the leaves.

Rose Mosaic Disease-

The name derives from the yellowish-green mosaic pattern that takes shape. This is a deadly rose virus, and unfortunately there is no treatment for it either. However, with the proper steps you can learn to control the issue and get rid of the ones that are overwhelmed with the virus.

This is just the beginning of a long list of issues you can come across while rose gardening. What it comes down to is the more knowledge you have the easier they will be to maintain. When you do your research you are able to find several different solutions or remedies to any of the problems that surface.

For instance; when you use chemicals on a normal basis it will help control the possible infections and insects. Just remember that when it comes to insects there are some that can have advantages of being in your rose garden. A lady bug for example, are predators of aphids. This is plant lice that can eat away your leaves in a heartbeat.

The ones you need to get rid of, you can use a lime-sulfur spray in the early portion of the spring. When you have begun the treatment, make sure you follow it up with fungicide every ten days. If you see any stems, leaves or canes that are infected, we recommend removing them. If you see the rose garden rust, this has to be repeated until it disappears.

In the end you have to know the problems and understand each one so you can keep your roses looking like the treasures of love they are meant to be.
