Planting Rose Gardens
...five important tips!

Planting Rose Gardens is all about timing. The perfect time to plant roses is when the ground is soft. So when spring time rolls around, it's the best time to get started. Soon you will be able to smell the fragrance in the air and get a glimpse of their true beauty. This is why it is no surprise that roses have become such a popular bloom over the years.

Even though it's exciting, you have to plant your roses a specific way. Special care is needed, which is why you need to think about where you're going to plant them. Today we're going to give you 5 tips that will help you successfully grow roses in your garden. When Planting Rose Gardens:

1...Pick Your Spot Carefully:

Each and every day your roses will need 4-6 hours of sunlight. You want to find a spot that is clear from trees and other types of plants. If your roses do not get an ample supply of sunlight, they will not grow properly.

Usually the roots intertwine with the rose and stunt its overall growing pattern. Also, if you are removing a rose bush, it is in your best interest to remove 1 1/2 cubic feet of old soil and replace it with new so. This way, your new rose plant will be able to start off on the right foot.

2...Consider The Variety:

There are many different types of rose bushes, so you have to always consider what you are planting and where to put them. Ramblers and climbers should be positioned along trellises, fences or pergolas and arches. When you give them plenty of space to grow freely you will be able to get bigger blooming roses.

3...Dig This:

If you can create island beds, roses will look immaculate in this setup. They can also be mixed with perennials as well. If you have taller plants around your home, smaller roses are fantastic edging plants. Start by digging a hole that is big enough for the root ball, in an area where no other roses have grown.

However, it's important to loosen up the soil at the bottom of the hole. Even though this is option, we do recommend adding bone meal. It gives your roses better and healthier root growth thanks to its phosphorus properties.

4...Consider The Winter:

The climate is going to play a major role on how deep you plant your roses. Those who live in cooler areas should plant their roses deeper. If you're looking to simply plant them in a pot you will have to dig an inch deeper than the normal potted level if the temperatures are going to fall below minus 10!

5...Not A Mountain or a Molehill:

When placing the roses in the hole you dug, it's important to place them very carefully. It's also important to make sure the roots are covered completely. When everything is complete it is now time to water your rose plant. After you are finished you should mound the soil up so it is 8 inches around the base of your plant.

You won't have to worry about the stems drying out since the earth will do this for you. However, when they are completely rooted it will be up to you to maintain them. Also, once the leaves begin to bloom, remove the excess soil that surrounds the plant.

If you take into account, each one of the tips we've given you today, it will be well worth the effort. In the end you will be able to look forward to beautiful blooms. Thats what planting rose gardens should be about, getting armfuls of beautiful blooms that you can truly say, “I grew these myself!”
