In a rose gardener's mind, there is nothing like seeing your hard work pay off when roses bloom nicely. In fact, when you take care of them properly your neighbors will definitely compliment you on them. When cared for properly, the beauty and fragrance of roses are like no other. In order to get a head start on your rose garden, the best time to plant is in the spring.
Doing so will allow them to bloom nicely. It's also in your best interest to enrich the soil and be plentiful with the water. Individuals who don't water their roses enough will see that the stems become stunted and the blooms weak. Just remember that while water is crucial to a nice bloom, where you choose to plant them should be an area of your garden that's able to drain properly. If not your roses will become damaged due to over watering and your bed will dwindle. Rose bushes do not like their feet in water! One of the most exciting parts of gardening and roses is the blooming process. While some gardeners are happy with the normal results, others try to encourage bigger and more beautiful blooms. If you want to try this then you need to fertilize your rose plants once every two weeks, with a liquid fertilizer and a handful of organic dry fertilizer at the beginning of the growing season. In order to keep fungal diseases at bay or the usual infections, spray a mixture of dish soap and baking soda on them, as well as keeping the beds clean and the air circulating: and no water on the leaves! Insects can be irritating as well, and those red spiders or green aphids you see around a rose bed need to be eliminated. One of the best ways to keep insects from taking over is by airing your roses each week and dusting them. This will get rid of most of those tiny insects (even some of the ones you can't see). Understanding the climate in your area will be important as well. See, roses won't last when it comes to extreme weather, so you have to take the proper precautions. If you live in a warm climate it's important to plant your roses in an area where they only get morning sunlight. Then again, if you live in colder climates the roses will need sun during the hottest hours of the day. Last but not least, gardening and roses is an all year round project. You will need to provide winter mulching, and can do so with a straw or other materials that will protect your roses from the lower temperatures. If you take the information we've given you today and use it to your advantage, you will enjoy the results your rose garden delivers. Check out the website, maybe even the Free monthly newsletter.
